Le Castagne – rocks brunch
Dear Foodiez,
Before I moved from the Rittenhouse Square ‘hood, I walked by Le Castagne regularly, I finally took the time to try it for their new brunch, check out my review after the JUMP!!!!
I found out brunch was new at Le Castagne, I was nervous! As you already know, brunch is like a religion to me. I don’t mess around and have no time for some average eggs & toast!
I started to chill when I tasted the coffee… AHHHHH, it was good. We were off to a bangin’ start!
My friend Rob and I were super excited to try our two classic brunch favorites – Eggs Benny & French Toast. Let me start with the French Toast, UM, it was stuffed with Nutella and served with Dark Rum Caramelized Bananas. There was also a heaping helping of freshly made whipped cream. The pleasure sensors inside my mouth were doing the Merengue and my taste buds were doing the Cha-Cha! The warm Chocolate/Hazelnut Nutella combined with the caramelized banana and then with the fresh light whipped cream – OH MYYYYYY GAWD!!!! You have to try this! In all honesty, you could put Nutella on an old shoe and I’d eat it! FA’ REALZ!!
The Eggs Benny were probably my second favorite in Philly! The poached egg, which by the way, was prepared TO PERFECTION! I’m sort of a stickler for a runny poached egg on my benny. Don’t hate, but I’ve sent them back for being too hard! The truffled hollandaise sauce and the Prosciutto took the eggs benny over the top!
2 for 2! I gotta tell you. If you’re in the Rittenhouse Square area, standing in line at Marathon On The Square or one of the many other joints waiting and waiting on a Sunday morning for brunch. Take it from me. Walk a block north to Chestnut and check out the Brunch Buffet or A la Carte menu at Le Castagne, you won’t be disappointed!
