Morton’s The Steakhouse
Dear Foodiez,
Morton’s The Steakhouse invited me and my foodie friend, …Jazzie G… to come to their King of Prussia Mall location to check out a few of their new menu items, they’ve also challenged me to reproduce one of them at home, using their new cook book!

Ice Cream Warz Winnerz!
War is hell, I’m pretty sure Sherman said that right after he burned Atlanta. Well, Philly wasn’t on fire, but it sure was hot on July 18th when 4 foodiez gathered to engage in our first annual Philly Ice Cream Warz! We picked 4 local “icecreameries” (if it’s not a word, I just made it up!) for the competition. Just to make sure we were not pulling a surprise attack, we went so far as to send them an advanced notice – no ambush – it’s all good! Their challenge: make a banana split, serve it up in a classic style, and let us judge it on 4 categories, Toppings, Ice Cream, Presentation, Creativity. We facebooked, we tweeted and we emailed all of this to all 4 participants.
Is the suspense killing you? Want to know, who won? Keep reading after the JUMP!!! Read More…
Philly Cupcake wins Best Of The Gayborhood
Dear Foodiez:
Let the record show that Foodrulez.com gave props to the Sweet Potato cupcake last month!
However, this month, they take the cake from Philadelphia Magazine as Best Snack in the Gayborhood!
Philadelphia Magazine stated, “Philly Cupcake is like falling down the rabbit hole. With mannequins. The to-die-for cupcakes (our faves are Twix Dream and The Massacre) and random stuff dipped in chocolate (Swedish fish!) make Wonderland seem boring.”
Personally, I recall High 5′ing Michael the owner when he told me they have a Twix Cupcake!
Way to go Philly Cupcake! Way to make the gays proud! Now all you need to come up with is a sugar-free, carb free, fat-free cup cake and all the boys leaving 12th St and Fusion will rush in to grab one. Lord knows the boys need to keep the abs poppin’
Oh Me Oh My, I finally found good Thai!
Dear Foodiez:
A really good friend of mine lives way down below the airport in Delaware County, or as the locals call it – DELCO! My friend is an international flight attendant who is in a different country every trip and has been to some of the most exotic and far-reaching places on earth. He’s also from a mixed race family and grew up in southern California, so his access to exotic food is quite extensive. I say this because on a random afternoon of hangin’ with Robby H in DELCO, we were trying to decide on dinner. He asked if I like Thai food, to which i promptly replied, “oh hellz yeah”!
He suggested a local joint called Noodi – Thai Chef in his neighbourhood. Claiming it to be the best Thai food he’s ever eaten! I kind of chuckled to myself – REALLY? Great Thai food in DELCO? Land of endless stretch of Baja Fresh and Applebee’s?
We rolled up to Noodi – Thai Chef on McDade Blvd in Folsom, PA. Yeah, mapquest that! It’s near Crum Lynne, what? That not ringing a bell either? How’s exit 8 off of 95 South? That help?
Anyway, I ordered the Green Curry w. Shrimp and Chicken Satay for an appetizer. Robby H ordered the Spring Rolls and Panang Curry.

Coo – Coo for Coconut Cake
Dear Foodiez:
Nothing says, “i’m the gay best friend” like baking her baby shower cake.
Well, the best friend learning how to make the a fore mentioned cake in a baking class with his mom… preeeetty much solidifies the fact that A) he’s a gay & B) the cake’s going to be the best thing anyone at this baby shower has - EVER - tasted!
FYI, the girlz at the shower were screaming about this cake like 1960′s teen girlz screamed during the Beatles debut performance on the Ed Sullivan Show. There was not a single crumb of cake or shred of coconut left!
The cake and its icing is very non-traditional. But really, do you expect traditional from the “gay best friend”? I mean where would Gucci be without Tom Ford? Where would Dior be without John Galliano? They would be in the same boring place as a bland boring coconut cake with a traditional 7 minute icing! The Tri-Guy thought outside of the box and created something so different, so delicious even Karl Lagerfeld would risk a few extra pounds – just so he could taste this icing!
Eating the cake is an experience because the coconut flavoring comes at you from two very unique sources. Rather than using regular milk, the Tri Guy opted for coconut milk, adding moisture and an amazing – AUTHENTIC coconut flavor. There is also a filling between the layers made of shredded coconut, sugar, flour and milk. Just like Ina says… she wants to see what it tastes like!
A few recipes called for a traditional 7 minute, egg white icing, but the Tri-Guy – added some gay flair and created a “Duo Cheese Icing” that is as smooth and velvety as a Swedish Teenage girl’s cheeks. Read More…
NYC Cupcake Warz – WINNER
Dear Foodiez.
What a day. We took the winner of our UWS Cupcake Warz, Magnolia, and set it against two NYC cult favorites, Two Little Red Hens and Sugar Sweet Sunshine! This contest was Magnolia’s to lose…………
We take cupcakes very seriously. We had input from Philly Blogger, Colleen, of Sweetswallowsbaking.com (she was rooting for Sugar Sweet Sunshine’s pistachio). Guest Judge Guapps came back for a cameo at Sugar Sweet Sunshine – He’s a huge fan of Sugar Sweet Sunshine and was super psyched to taste test the Pistachio. The full Warz post after the JUMP!!
