A few weeks ago, I went to a local restaurant for happy hour and found a dish that was like nothing I’d ever seen before!
M Restaurant on 8th Street in Philadelphia serves a Mozzarella and tomato appetizer – but it has a very funky twist! The mozzarella isn’t a ball – it’s a balloon! The restaurant literally inflates the mozz with a pea puree’! My server told me they put a video on YouTube showing the process. I found the video and was amazed at the process.
Not only is it off the charts amazeballz – it’s so freakin’ cool that when you cut into the balloon the pea puree’ runs all over your plate, just like when you cut into the egg on an eggs benny!

M Restaurant recently launched a new happy hour bar menu and I popped in one day to check out their, “sophisticated, bistro style bar menu”.
The Bacon Brittle & Spiced nuts were amazing. I must admit even though I’ve been literally vegging out lately, I kicked with some bacon and the nibblies rocked.
Next was Duck Confit with Sous Vide Duck egg …. it’s duck confit, with a kick, pistachios to give it a little texture and crunch ( a great addition). The Sous Vide (french method of poaching) duck egg added a velvety richness that I loved. The French theory on cooking, “Want to make it better? Add an Egg!”
I ate in the outdoor garden which was really beautiful! I have to tell you if I drank wine, this would be the spot to go and have a really fancy schmancy dinner with someone!

Capogiro Wins Every Time
After a healthy lunch of 500 calorie or less entree’s at Fuel, we decided, well Alex, decided he wanted something sweet. There was on caveat, it’ couldn’t have dairy. He suggested, gelato at Capogiro… I looked at him, then I looked at Isaiah, then back at Alex with an odd smile and said, “But that’s dairy.” He just shrugged….. Apparently, he had changed his mind, and we were off.
Between the three of us, we had Thai Coconut Milk, Nutella, Sea Salt, Dolche Duleche, Pistachio and Bananas Foster.
Yeah, every single one was spectacular.
My current addiction is Nutella. Lemme tell ya’, the gelato is almost like eating Nutella right out of the jar – not that I would know what that tastes like, because I NEVER do that while sitting on the sofa in sweats watching TV. I never do that….

I’ve become connected with a guy who has given himself the title of “Dessert King of Philadelphia”, just because he can identify 4 different kinds of icing and because he’s got an addiction to cupcakes. I told him to call me after he’s had 150 people in his apartment doing a cookie taste test of the top 8 bakeries in Philadelphia, until then, he can be the “Prince of Pastries” because the title’s been taken – bitches! Diner fish smells like Camden after a rain shower?
Diner Dinner in Audubon, NJ
There was a road trip to NJ, a group of friends decided to cross the Ben Franklin to check out the sober scenes in New Jersey. We ended up at the Legacy diner for dinner in Audubon. I’m not sure where exactly that is, but you can, as Madonna says, “look it up”. As if no one ever said it before her, but now, it’s her line for life.
I digress, diner for dinner! My go-to diner choices are always – breakfast OR turkey club with fries!
