not so risotto…

Dear Foodiez,

Grammy Mame took me to lunch last week.  We decided to take in a flick and grab a nosh at Positano Coast.

I was dreaming of my train ride on the Amalfi Coast a few years ago!  There’s no food on the planet that’s any better than the food in Italy!

I had high hopes for everything, I found one dish that I loved and one that wasn’t so great.

Dear Foodiez,
It ain’t pretty but it was stupid good!

You gotta check out this sandwich at Jake’s Sandwich Board . You won’t be disappointed. It’s only being offered for a limited time.
Sean, the owner says it’s better to get this for dinner.

The fat kid inside of me was transported back to my mom’s dinner table – remembering her open faced hot turkey and gravy sandwiches. Linda Louise, you would totally approve!

One of my Facebook friends and his wife dressed up for Halloween as the SNL Spartan Cheerleaders.  Doesn’t sound all that funny, until you learn that John is this handsome, jacked (that means really muscular) personal trainer – who’s straight! Read More…

Dear Foodiez,

The Hip Couple that live in my building invited me to a very civilized Sunday afternoon of brunch followed by perusing an “Open Studio” of resident artists’ galleries. I was super excited! I love brunch and art! Especially when it’s all located on gritty Spring Garden Street in sunny Philadelphia.

Dear Foodiez,

You know how you walk by a joint on the regular and never try it.  You see the joint, but just never get around to going in.   Perhaps it’s on some out-of-the-way street that’s on your way to someplace that has nothing to do with food.   Read More…

This was so much fun!!!! In addition to the biscuits and gravy, Tennessee offers The Old Mill. They make the candy right there for you. It was so much fun to watch, like taking a step back in time, which, being in Tennessee, to me back to the 1800′s. It sounds romantic, but they’re beating up gays in TN in 2011, I shudder to think what would happen to me in Tennessee in the 1800′s.

Sometimes modern day is so much more comforting. I’ll take social/cultural advancement with a little peppering of old school flair.
